THE CHALLENGE OF INTEGRATING THE ADAPTIVE AND TECHNOLOGICAL VALUE OF WOOD IN A CHANGING CLIMATE

Guillermina Dalla-Salda - IFAB INTA-CONICET & Nicolas Martin St Paul (Moderator) - INRAE Avignon

Wood fulfills multiple functions required for the survival of trees and is involved in multiple functional processes. Genetic determinism of functional traits offers the possibility of using wood to understand the adaptation processes of forests, to environmental stress events, which take an increasing role in the context of global climate change. At the same time, wood is the mechanical support of trees and is a raw material for industry. Therefore, the study of technology-based properties becomes relevant for the processes of production, creation, design and implementation of wood products for value added in origin. Our objective is to generate basic and applied research within the framework of the multiple processes in which wood is involved.
