The ESENCIA project aims to strengthen cooperation between the Centre-Val de Loire region (France) and the province of Río Negro (Argentina) in addressing the challenges posed by climate change on forests. Local communities and scientists in these regions seek to preserve ecosystem functions and services while developing adaptation solutions.

This collaboration is built on a long history of exchanges and partnerships, particularly through the International Associated Laboratory FORESTIA. The ESENCIA project focuses on pilot actions to enhance forest observation in the context of climate change and to facilitate participatory decision-making. Franco-Argentinian workshops will be organized to share experiences and scientific tools, while involving local stakeholders and forest users.

Instrumented devices will be deployed to monitor the response of forest ecosystems to climate change. Data will be made available to the public and experts. Surveys on perceptions of climate change will enrich the awareness of local stakeholders. Finally, educational tools, a book for adolescents, and public conferences will be created to raise awareness among citizens in both territories.
